Personal Description:

I'm Ellie, an Oxford graduate and fully qualified secondary school Languages Teacher with 4 years' teaching experience, including 2 and a half years in one of the country's top-performing secondary MFL departments. I am available for *ONLINE* tutoring at a time that suits you (I am currently based in New York). I graduated from Oxford in 2016 in French and Linguistics and then qualified as an outstanding trainee teacher in 2017. I am experienced in preparing students for AQA GCSE French, Eduqas A-Level French and AQA A-Level French, as well as preparing students for the MLAT exam (the Oxford MFL entrance exam).

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as an outstanding Modern Foreign Languages trainee teacher in 2017, before teaching at the highly successful Holland Park School in London until the end of 2019. I have 3 years' experience teaching French to KS5 (A-Level), as well as preparing students for applications to Oxbridge and other top universities. Previous to this, I taught English as a foreign language in France for the British Council and in Italy with a private language school. During this time, I worked with adult learners as well as secondary school age students.

Teaching Approach:

I am a fully qualified secondary Modern Foreign Languages Teacher (since 2017), and I therefore have day to day practical experience of dealing with a range of learners and their parents. I therefore understand that the key to successful teaching and learning is in designing learning activities which suit the personal needs of each learner, including those with Special Educational Needs. Tutoring provides an invaluable opportunity to work even more closely with learners of a range of backgrounds and abilities, such that I can even better tailor my teaching to suit the needs of an individual student, rather than a single student in a large class. I like my lessons to be engaging and dynamic, and often use games to help learning stick. We remember things that we care about, and my aim is to make every student care about what they learn in my lessons.
