Personal Description:

Hi, I'm a fully qualified MFL tutor with 20 years’ teaching experience. I am genuinely passionate about language learning and have a keen interest in most educational subjects, such as science, history and literature. I thoroughly enjoy conversation and discussion of most issues. I am extremely happy that I decided to become a linguist and feel that the acquisition of new languages has deeply enriched my life. I can now enjoy the culture of theses countries. Without the language ‘key’ the door to other cultures remains locked. The more keys you have the richer your life will become. I am a proud father and have taught my two, now grown-up sons German and Spanish. Due to SARS Cov-19 I’m currently teaching for Newcastle University via Zoom. I also have a background in Construction which got me into MFL when I was working as a bricklayer in Germany.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked both free-lance and for various local colleges over the past 15 years. During this time I have taught learners from all backgrounds, age groups and all capabilities.

Teaching Approach:

If you’re a beginner I recommend focusing on the syntax (grammar) of your new language. As we progress the focus is gradually placed on conversation. This, I have found, yields the best results and students enjoy grappling with the language actively. Classes temporarily offered via Zoom or face to face if you can travel to me.
