Information About Dave - Hull teacher
I have been teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and English language and literature from KS1 to KS4 (GCSE) for over 20 years. I have worked with students from all over the world, at all levels of ability. I am familiar with the IELTS, OET, and Cambridge exams. I create all my own materials, individually tailored to the student's requirements.
I lived in Poland from 1999-2004. I have worked as an adult education tutor for Leeds City College, Selby College, and North Yorkshire County Council. I was the Director of Education for UKID, an online school based in Shenzhen, China, where I wrote the entire curriculum and all the lesson materials. I have prepared students for the Common Entrance exam for independent schools, including Fettes College and Cheltenham Ladies Colege.
Currently, I run my own business, writing resources, course books, and other materials for the ESOL market.
I use the structural - analytical method of teaching, which takes the lexical approach to language learning. I show students how an understanding of linguistic structure and academic writing conventions can enhance and improve one's understanding of texts, and one's ability to produce essays, articles etc which meet the requirements of the UK SATs, GCSE, and other exams.
Although I set high standards, I also show students how to achieve their very best work by developing their spoken and written English through reason, logic, and evidence-based argument.
