Personal Description:

Based in England since 1999, I am a native French Teacher with experience teaching adults and teenagers of all levels and abilities. I hold a French MPhil in Literature and Philosophy from Lille 3 University and the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.
I thoroughly enjoy working with teenagers and adults and assisting them in developing their knowledge and their confidence at their own pace.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a tutor for more than 20 years, teaching French to children from the age of 10, teenagers and adults of all levels and ability either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. I am friendly, patient, imaginative and supportive, and have helped many students with their 13+, GCSE, IGCSE, A level, IB, Mlat, University degree as well as DELF and DALF.
I am trained and have experience teaching students with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD and on the Asperger spectrum.

Teaching Approach:

I adapt my teaching techniques to suit the student's learning style and ability and work on all areas of the language such as conversation, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or the French culture. I encourage students to reach their full potential in French by teaching them how to organise their work, and build up their confidence by practising all aspects of the language in a relaxed atmosphere. pectrum.

From Tobias (5/5): I've been learning French with Claire for about four years (I'm an adult learner, and started from scratch). At the beginning lessons were structured in order to build a good base, the tenses/basic grammar/basic verbs and so on. She helped me pass my a1 DELF with flying colours.

Since then she's tailored lessons to areas areas I'd rather focus on, loosely within the DELF curriculum. Claire is very clear, picks up on and addresses issues easily, and is happy to answer my many questions about anything from the origin of particular words and phrases, to questions about aspects of France or French life in general.

From mahmoud (5/5): Madame Claire has proven to be an excellent choice for initially for my eldest son when he started in Year 7. He started from zero to being top of his class thanks to the encouragement and teaching of Madame Claire. Would recommend Madame Claire to anyone. To emphasise my recommendation my youngest son has also started French lessons with Madame Claire .

She supports my daughter very well and is happy to work alongside the school to ensure good progress as she continues her French education outside of school. My daughter is extremely happy with the quality of her lessons with Claire and feels adequately challenged and engaged in them. Although we have a set lesson time, she is very flexible and accommodating when these times occasionally need to be changed. Even with a gifted French student, I'd say Claire is your best option for any extra help!!

We were delighted with Jessica's final grade as she achieved a grade 9 in her French gcse exam, when to start with, French had been her weakest subject.

She is reliable,patient… enthusiastic and comes well prepared for every lesson, tailor making it to suit what my daughter is doing in class. She has also gone beyond requirements to assist at times on Italian when my daughter has needed help. She is a great asset as a tutor and is highly recommended by us.
