This is how 4 referees rated Chris:
My name is Chris and, corny as it sounds, I really love the Dutch language.
You can learn from the mistakes I made with Dutch.
I lived and worked in The Netherlands from 1989 to 2006, working as a Quality Manager in an industrial bakery and later as an IT consultant, working country-wide.
My spoken Dutch has a touch of a Northern character. My written Dutch and spelling is excellent . My competence level is upper C1.
I have worked most recently with Dutch people in the UK as a software consultant to European clients.
Travel to you is possible and I now offer online meetings. I charge the normal HMRC rate if you would like me to travel to you (in addition my normal hourly rate).
My only qualification is having learned Dutch from scratch myself and living and working in The Netherlands. I have also given lessons to students via this site
Hopefully I can help you avoid the mistakes I did.
You, as the student, are central and the pace is up to you.
The unique thing I can offer are some insights which I have not yet found in books - there are ways of looking at some aspects of Dutch from an English-speaking perspective which can have some "eureka" moments. This is true of the difficult "er" construction and for verbs too.
I am developing my own document for English speakers about Dutch word order and how to spot the sections in a sentence. This is helpful for many people who did not learn all grammar terms at school.
If you do not yet speak Dutch, I would suggest a traditional approach initially with emphasis on correct pronunciation - this is the most boring part of learning a new language but it will stand you in good stead. There are some weird sounds in Dutch (for English speakers) but you'll be surprised to learn that these sounds can also be found in dialects Britain, if you know where to look.
How quickly you progress also depends on how much time you can set aside for self-study. You can use your own books and/or materials or I can recommend some.
If you are already speaking Dutch then together we'll decide on a plan to get you to where you want to be. You may just want an occasional lesson to use me as a sounding board or get clarification or improve your confidence by trying things out.
If you are planning to move to a Dutch-speaking country I can help with CVs and covering letters and interview practice.
Despite a reputation for being guttural you will discover that it can be a soft, beautiful and descriptive language.
for one-on-one lessons I have Dutch-language music, books and games if this helps you to learn

Through Chris' help, I have gained so much confidence in speaking the language in conversation and am not as self conscious when speaking to Dutch people I have never met.
The range of materials used to enhance language learning ranged from dvds, Dutch morning chat shows, to short stories and novels to more physically 'going round the room and labelling items'. All homework set is based on activities covered in the lesson prior and tailored to bits that may have been challenging.
Chris is 100% invested in your personal progress, and sometimes I forget that I'm at a lesson and rather having a chat with a friend--his teaching style is so relaxed! He's also been very understanding regarding my irratic work schedule; which has been an absolute blessing!
