Personal Description:
My name is Charlotte and I am a French native speaker. Since I arrived in Edinburgh last year, I decided to make it my future home. But during my studies, I had the chance to live in different cities such as London or Seoul. When I have some spare time, I like reading, writing stories but also cooking and traveling, especially in Asia and Scotland (yes, definitely two different environments).
My commitment to the French language can be seen through my classic literature readings but also on my pernickety writings, always willing to learn new vocabulary in addition to mastering conjugation (even native speakers struggle with this part, you're not alone here).
Teaching Experience:
Chronologically, during my years in high-school, I tutored other students in French and Spanish to fill a gap with the rest of the class. When I entered university, I paused tutoring to focus on my university work but since I ended up studying in South Korea when covid hit, I met two Korean girls to whom I gave English lessons. Rather than looking at school lessons, we did a variety of activities together such as baking cookies or making origami.
Finally, making new friends this past year, I taught French to a friend, helping her on the pronouciation and going at her own speed in order for her to solo travel in France.
Teaching Approach:
My methods of teaching vary on the person because I noticed it is always easier to learn a language when talking about something you're interested into. Searching "where Brian is?" is boring compared to "how was your day?". I am willing to organise some outdoor activities such as in a cafe or a walk to talk about things surrounding us or flee the cold by baking inside or playing board game (to learn counting for eg).
My aim when teaching French isn't to point at all the mistakes you can make or all the mispronunciation, but rather to answer any question, give you a real French experience with sentences outside from Exercise books and make the learning an enjoyable experience.
