Personal Description:

I have an Honours degree in French from the University of Exeter, and have several years' classroom teaching experience at secondary school and undergradua**Contact Detail Removed**vels in different parts of France.
After a first career in Modern Languages Educational and Academic Publishing, for eleven years I have been privately tutoring French to students of a variety of ages, either individually or sometimes in small groups. I offer structured, curriculum-based support tailored to the needs of individual students, boosting confidence through clear explanation and practice.

Teaching Experience:

I specialise in tutoring students in key stages 2, 3 and 4 in preparation for French Common Entrance, GCSE and IGCSE examinations. If students lack confidence or are performing at a low level, I find that patient explanation, targeted consolidation and practice help them to reach their potential. Others are particularly ambitious for the highest grades. Whatever the needs of a student, I believe that I am able to meet, with sensitivity and discretion, their differing requirements. I support students alongside school as well as preparing students independently for examination.

I also teach adults looking to start French from scratch or to consolidate previous knowledge for a variety of purposes, either work-related or purely recreational. For adults, my lessons also carefully structured and take into account a student's individual interests.

Teaching Approach:

My approach is to establish clear and manageable targets for my students, to create a positive attitude to learning French and to foster confidence regardless of ability. Typically, after an initial discussion and a first lesson getting to know a student, I propose a carefully tailored programme with sensible goals. All lessons are planned around the specific needs of each student and are paced accordingly. My aim is for students to enjoy learning French.
