Catherine offers a FREE first / introductory lesson!
I am a free-lance translator and modern languages tutor, specialising in EFL and Spanish, as well as an experienced GCSE and A-level examiner. An enthusiastic teacher, I enjoy passing on my knowledge of the language and love of the culture of the Spanish-speaking world.
I have taught people of all ages and backgrounds in Mexico and the United Kingdom. In Mexico I taught English to students ranging from security guards to bankers and politicians. In the UK I have taught Spanish at all levels in colleges of FE and HE, pharmaceutical companies and, in my last post, in an independent school. I enjoy both one-to-one and group tutoring.
Teaching methodologies and trends have evolved considerably over the years. I tend to use a mix of practical, communicative techniques with some grammar, taking into account the particular needs and learning styles of the individual. Above all, I believe language learning should be interesting and fun and as stress-free as possible.

Thank you Ruby for your kind comments.
Update: Thrilled that daughter achieved an A* in her Spanish A level. She definitely benefited from Catherine's support and is moving forward to study Modern Languages at University.
When I started working with Catherine, I was working at a B and I ended up getting an A* on results day.
This would not have been possible without Catherine and her hard work. She is a dedicated and passionate teacher, always going beyond so that I knew what I was doing and that I understood everything. Her explanations were great.
She also gives amazing and thorough feedback on all individual work without fail and provides really good resources that are in line with the topics in the curriculum.
She ensures that all aspects of the curriculum are practiced, such as the speaking, the listening, the reading and the writing so there is no doubt that you will be unprepared by the time the exams come around.
On top of that, she is an incredible and interesting person making the learning process a lot easier.
I have learnt so much within the space of a year and it was down to a lot of revision and to Miss Catherine and I will miss her very much.
I am forever grateful because I now have a high level of Spanish, which has already given me so many opportunities so thank you!!
Be sure to have Catherine as your tutor or you are missing out.
You put in the hours of study and hard work necessary to achieve your goal and I am delighted it all paid off. Well done.
I shall miss you too… I wish you every success for the future and will follow your progress with interest. Keep on touch and buena suerte.
Her knowledge of Mexico and the Spanish language in general is helping my prepare for hopefully, a trip to Mexico City in the near future.
So far all the lessons have been online but this hasn't hindered any learning - the sessions work really well virtually.
I would highly recommend without a doubt to anyone wanting to learn or improve their Spanish at any level.
