Personal Description:

Having studied languages from an early age, I understand the difficulties which learners have to overcome and how important it is for the teacher to motivate students by making the lessons relevant and interesting.
I have a degree in Modern Languages from the Open University and CELTA qualification to teach English to adults. I speak French, German, Spanish and Russian. I have worked for a number of major financial services companies as an IT Consultant, and can also teach financial and business English, as well as computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access).

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching classes of mixed nationalities a**Contact Detail Removed**mentary and Upper Intermedia**Contact Detail Removed**vel, and also give priva**Contact Detail Removed**ssons. In addition to using resources from a variety of teaching books, I have developed my own materials such as word games and comprehension exercises using authentic texts. Having been a language student myself, I have a good idea of what works and what students enjoy doing.

Teaching Approach:

The purpose of learning a language is to communicate, and so my lessons are focussed on helping students to talk to people they meet in their everyday lives and deal with essential reading material and correspondence. Of course we need to include grammar, but I teach it in the context of real-life situations rather than by rules and tedious exercises. As well as language, my students gain knowledge of English life, customs and history to add to their experience of visiting or living in the UK. Above all, I feel that learning English should be fun. I enjoy teaching, and I want my students to enjoy learning!
