Personal Description:

I am an experienced and qualified lecturer of Italian. Although Italian is my mother tongue, I am also fluent in English and I speak also French.
I have developed my passion for teaching through working in a range of educational settings and with different age groups and needs. I love teaching because this allows me to make use of my inherit communication skills and languages are, in first place, about communication and relationship with other cultures.

The Certificate in Education in Lifelong Learning enabled me to enhance my skills and develop the “technical” aspects of teaching and develop my skills further.

Teaching Experience:

In the past 15 years I have been employed on a part-time basis at Wiltshire College where I have developed a successful and on going language programme. I am also preparing some pupils for the GCSE in Italian at St. Mary’s School in Calne, where I am currently running two Italian groups. Furthermore I have a wide experience in teaching privately, 1:1 and small groups, from beginners to A level and also Italian for business.

Teaching Approach:

I always approach teaching in a very informal way, giving priority to communication and practical needs. I use grammar structures only to support and consolidate the communication. Key phrases, role plays, use of vocabulary and listening are the base of my beginners and intermediate teaching with occasional reading or writing. With more advanced students we can extend and further consolidate vocabulary and structures using films, books, news, songs … I never forget the cultural aspect of the language and so I take any occasion to allow my students to discover Italian culture and uses.
