Personal Description:

After studying Spanish and English teaching at school and university both in Argentina and Spain, I have always worked in the language industry in the private sector. I live in London with my husband and our beautiful dog. We both love teaching, writing and reading. I am a very enthusiastic and patient teacher. I am flexible and willing to help the students develop their full potential. I have studied Spanish Philology and I have a Diploma in English teaching and ongoing studies of Spanish and English Linguistics at university. However, it's my experience of over 25 years as a Spanish teacher which gave me the skills, the flexibility and the patience needed to accompany the students at their own pace and help them succeed and meet their goals.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a teacher of Spanish as a second language for over 25 years, most of them in my own school at Malaga, Spain. After relocating to London, I worked for different language schools. I am familiar with the structure of the English School system, the National Curriculum and the standards of Spanish for GCSE and A levels. Undergraduate and A-levels’ students benefit from my genuine interest and expertise in literature, arts, politics, cinema and philosophy.

Teaching Approach:

Teaching is an activity that I truly love. Over 25 years, I have created my own approach to teaching Spanish. I am passionate about teaching and preparing bespoke lessons for each of my students. Thus, the teaching strategies I use depend on a series of factors such as the students' characteristics, their level of command of the language, their learning approaches and their goals in acquiring another language. My approach always puts the language in context creating situations which can be found in an everyday environment. While assimilating new concepts, the students keep using all the elements they have learnt in previous sessions and, as in concentric circles, the new grammar structures and vocabulary just keep adding. I also use the grammar-translation method to improve the reading and writing of GCSEs students. Both with my adults and younger students I use a lot of audio-visual material which supports the learning process and make the sessions fun and enjoyable. I always discuss the method with my students so that they are aware of the characteristics of my approach.
