Personal Description:

Hello, I'm Asuka, a Japanese violin player, a mother, and language enthusiast residing in Leeds.
I'm in UK since 2015 but before studied in Amsterdam for 5years.
There I met many international students from all over the world, and enjoyed so much sharing different culture, values, cookery, art etc… So I decided to start teaching my own language and through my teaching, I would love to share the culture, the beauty and the mystery of my country. (My profession is teaching and performing violin).

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching handful number of beginners from last year. All private one to one sessions.
I'm a confident violin teacher as well, students varied from age 5-60+.

Teaching Approach:

My lesson is very relaxed and fun.
Focusing much on Conversation skill.

I use the text books such as Japanese from Zero or Genki, which allows you to learn Hiragana/Katakana (Japanese alphabet) gradually along with basic grammar.

I also offers the tailor made study materials and homeworks adjusted to each students needs (tourism, business, hobby etc.)

We spend lots of time for the conversation practice, featured the topics which you are interested in.
In between the practical language study, I love to share about Japanese culture, identity, customs, tourism tips too!

From Agata (5/5): Asuka is a brilliant violin teacher and lessons with her are provided in a professional and supportive manner to the highest standard. I started as a complete beginner in my thirties and Asuka has been incredibly patient and helped me to make significant progress. Asuka is dedicated to her work as a teacher and she is very passionate about music. I would highly recommend Asuka for anyone looking to learn to play the violin at any level.

From Ian (5/5): I have worked with Asuka for over a year now and would highly recommend her. She is an incredibly patient teacher who is very encouraging and welcoming. As an adult learner she has taken the time to understand where I need to improve and gets you to do practical exercises to help with bowing techniques, and to achieve a better sound overall. This has left me in a position where I feel that I make good progress most weeks. Asuka's feedback also focuses on essential things such as posture and how to hold the instrument correctly which has helped greatly. I like the fact that if for any reason I do not understand how to do something or find it difficult, Asuka will have an alternative way of explaining it to me to help me follow along. Her demonstrations are clear and effective.

She has been understanding of real life work issues getting in the way of practice, which can occasionally happen. Over the recent pandemic she was able to switch to video lessons and these were structured in a way that made them feel incredibly purposeful. In person or online I feel I have had the same experience.

Her choice of music to learn and develop my skills has ranged across quite a wide variety. This has always been well chosen to cater to my skills. Sometimes I have looked at a piece and thought that it was initially too difficult but after practising it and through Asuka's feedback I am always able to progress with every piece.

I would certainly recommend Asuka as a teacher.

From Takashi (5/5): Excellent teacher. Asuka carefully and patiently teaches my daughter how to play the violin from the very basics (e.g. how to hold, stand and where bows should go. My daughter’s violin skill improved dramatically because of Asuka’s re-education id violin basics. She is a highly recommended teacher.

From Catherine (5/5): Asuka is friendly and welcoming . I am a complete beginner, and at the first lesson, which was free, Asuka worked on the basics. Asuka has always worked at my pace and focusses on technique. She is an extremely talented violinist, and I am enjoying my lessons with her .
Asuka is easy to communicate with by text and email and very organised at planning ahead if lessons need to be re-scheduled . I would highly recommend her.
