Personal Description:
I am Dutch and have been living in the UK since I came over as an au-pair after I qualified as a teacher.
I am an effective communicator and respected decision-maker who combines her Language Teaching Degrees and MBA in International Business Studies. I have over 30 years of teaching experience, teaching Dutch, German, and English from complete Beginner to Advanced levels.
I am married to John, a retired Project Manager, and we have 3 children and 3 dogs who are keeping us busy.
I am Advanced DBS Certified.
Teaching Experience:
I have over 30 years of experience as a Language Tutor and International Business Development Coach. I also have extensive experience with students suffering from ADHD and Dyslexia needing special educational support.
I am a hands-on Tutor and have launched online education platforms in the UK and Europe from the US and India, managing the whole process from implementation to successfully training and managing the online tutors. I offer my own online courses in German, English, and Dutch as well as supporting GCSE and A-level students.
I lecture in languages at de Montford University in Leicester and am actively involved with the Pre-sessional English program for foreign students to IELTS 7.0 to prepare them for their academic year in the UK.
Teaching Approach:
I am very patient and have a very hands-on approach to teaching. I believe learning a language should be fun, not a task. I like to motivate my students to use their newfound language skills by building their confidence.
I tailor my lessons to my student's needs and requirements to ensure that fast progress is made for the purpose of learning and that the lessons are fun and easy to understand.
I teach both face to face or online using bespoke education platforms or Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype.
I am Advanced DBS accredited.

Anya has always been completely professional and very flexible to meet our demands but is always approachable and friendly.

I have really specific needs as to where I need to get to with my Dutch and they were so quickly understood and catered for by Anya. This she did both in understanding and also practically by being able to find all sorts of past exam papers and sources that are very beneficial to my learning. Our lessons are quite informal, which I love, and I feel right at home enabling me to speak my Dutch relaxedly and more confidently.
Homework that is set is all totally relevant, and fun too, and is a big part of lessons. Despite that, as a busy A-Level student I have missed the odd piece (which is really bad, sorry Anya) but Anya would then work it into the lesson or find other suitable acticities to do.
All in all, lessons with Anya are really excellent and I'm a very happy student.

Now, thanks to Anya's lessons, I have passed my entrance exam of Dutch as a second language at the university of Leiden meaning that I can go on to study courses in Dutch! Thank you Anya!
