I have over 35 years of language teaching experience in English, German and Dutch from complete beginners to university graduates.
I combine my Language Degrees and MBA in International Business Studies to assist companies and individuals in their expansion into Europe and settling into another country.
I offer intensive language courses with personal aftercare in the country where my students are settling to.
My language services brings me in direct contact with the Courts, Police, Educational Institutions and the NHS, I am therefore Advanced DBS (formerly CRB) Certified.
I am married to John, a retired Project Manager and have 3 children.
My spare time is spent with my family, friends (a very international bunch) and dogs and I like to travel to experience new cultures.
I teach at the 'de Montford University' and have extensive experience helping students to achieve their required language level for their exams as well as helping students with their entry exams at foreign Universities. I teach English, German and Dutch to help my students pass their British, German and Dutch Citizenship exams.
I have taught at 'the Brasshouse Language Centre' in Birmingham, part of Birmingham City Council, teaching English, German, Dutch at recognized international qualification levels.
I also teach English, German and Dutch to companies at business level, including the cultural aspects of doing business in different European countries. Sample customers are Landrover, BMW, Intel, Oracle, Birmingham City Council.
I teach languages to international project team members to accelerate their settlement in the UK and Europe and to improve internal communications with the existing team members thus improving Project output.
I recover outstanding invoices for companies in European countries where the use of a foreign language is required.
I have a very hands-on and approach teaching languages and tailor the lessons to my students' requirements. I believe learning a language should be fun, not a task, by building confidence and motivate my students using their new found language skills. For students learning the language to move to another country there will be ongoing support in the country itself to ensure that the settling-in process will be smooth and less stressful.
I tailor my lessons to my student's needs and requirements to ensure that fast progress is made for the purpose of learning and that my lessons are fun and easy to understand.
Recognized international exams can be offered upon request. I am now actively involved in the NT2 exams which enables my students to either study at Universities in Europe without sitting an entry exam or work at senior levels within companies where the local language is a requirement.
Depending on the requirements and urgencies, I teach one-to-one and/or small groups as well as in-company teaching whereby the business culture of the countries involved are also addressed. My lessons are being taught either face to face on by using Skype.

I have really specific needs as to where I need to get to with my Dutch and they were so quickly understood and catered for by Anya. This she did both in understanding and also practically by being able to find all sorts of past exam papers and sources that are very beneficial to my learning. Our lessons are quite informal, which I love, and I feel right at home enabling me to speak my Dutch relaxedly and more confidently.
Homework that is set is all totally relevant, and fun too, and is a big part of lessons. Despite that, as a busy A-Level student I have missed the odd piece (which is really bad, sorry Anya) but Anya would then work it into the lesson or find other suitable acticities to do.
All in all, lessons with Anya are really excellent and I'm a very happy student.
Now, thanks to Anya's lessons, I have passed my entrance exam of Dutch as a second language at the university of Leiden meaning that I can go on to study courses in Dutch! Thank you Anya!
