I am Dutch national and have been living in the UK for 40 years and have a passion for languages and meeting people.
I have over 35 years of language teaching experience in English, German and Dutch from Complete Beginners to Advanced Levels.
I combine my Language Degrees and MBA in International Business Studies to assist companies with their expansion into Europe and individuals with settling into their new countries… My language services brings me in direct contact with the Courts, Police, Educational Institutions and the NHS, I am therefore Advanced DBS (formerly CRB) Certified.
I am married to John, a retired Project Manager and have 3 children.
My spare time is spent with my family, friends (a very international bunch) and dogs and I like to travel to experience new cultures.
I lecture at the 'de Montford University' and have extensive experience helping students to achieve their required language level for their exams as well as helping students to pass their entry exams at other European Universities. I teach English, German and Dutch to help my students pass their British, German and Dutch Citizenship exams.
I have taught at 'the Brasshouse Language Centre' in Birmingham, part of Birmingham City Council, teaching English, German, Dutch at recognized international qualification levels.
I offer individual and in-company language tuition in English, German and Dutch from Beginners to Advanced and Business level, including the cultural business differences in European countries. Sample customers are Landrover, BMW, Intel, Oracle, Birmingham City Council.
Intense language weekends are held upon request.
I teach languages to international project team members to accelerate their settlement in the UK and Europe and to improve internal communications with the existing team members thus improving Project output.
I recover outstanding invoices for companies in European countries where the use of a foreign language is required.
I have a very hands-on approach teaching languages. I believe learning a language should be fun, not a task, by motivating my students to use their new found language skills and by building their confidence. For students learning the language to move to another country there will be ongoing support in the country itself to ensure that the settling-in process will be smooth and less stressful.
I tailor my lessons to my student's needs and requirements to ensure that fast progress is made for the purpose of learning and that my lessons are fun and easy to understand.
Recognized international exams can be offered upon request. I am now actively involved in the NT2 exams which enables my students to either study at Universities in Europe without sitting an entry exam or work at senior levels within companies where the local language is a requirement.
Depending on the requirements and urgencies, I teach one-to-one and/or small groups as well as in-company teaching whereby the business culture of the countries involved are also addressed. My lessons are being taught either face to face on by using Skype.

Anya has always been completely professional and very flexible to meet our demands but is always approachable and friendly.
I would highly recommend Anya as a tutor to anyone wanting to learn the Dutch language and although it wasn't me personally taking the lessons, please see the feedback from our staff members currently learning with her:
“Anya is a Dutch National who provides in depth and tailored lessons for learning Dutch. Her method is thorough and she offers on the job learning as well as assistance online via the Zune software. Whatever your requirement, whatever your budget, she can most definitely accommodate to your specific needs. I would definitely recommend signing up to her courses. (DT)”.
"Anya always delivers an organised and professional session and every week I come away feeling as though I have progressed. Her resources such as ready-made PowerPoints and programmes such as Zune mean that the lesson is flexible and can be reflected upon easily. The speaking and listening exercises really help with connecting the different aspects of language that I have learnt and help to build confidence with sentence structure and pronunciation.
I would not hesitate to recommend Anya to anyone looking for Dutch lessons in business. (OW)"
Really looking forward to learning more!
I have really specific needs as to where I need to get to with my Dutch and they were so quickly understood and catered for by Anya. This she did both in understanding and also practically by being able to find all sorts of past exam papers and sources that are very beneficial to my learning. Our lessons are quite informal, which I love, and I feel right at home enabling me to speak my Dutch relaxedly and more confidently.
Homework that is set is all totally relevant, and fun too, and is a big part of lessons. Despite that, as a busy A-Level student I have missed the odd piece (which is really bad, sorry Anya) but Anya would then work it into the lesson or find other suitable acticities to do.
All in all, lessons with Anya are really excellent and I'm a very happy student.
Now, thanks to Anya's lessons, I have passed my entrance exam of Dutch as a second language at the university of Leiden meaning that I can go on to study courses in Dutch! Thank you Anya!
