This is how 2 referees rated Ann:
Having lived and worked abroad I understand the challenges of learning a foreign language as well as the immense satisfaction it brings. I enjoy teaching, finding it very rewarding to see students progress and achieve their aims. I am friendly and approachable with good communication skills and lots of patience!
I have over twenty five years' teaching experience with both children and adults. In 1990 I qualified in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language before teaching English in Spain and New York. In 1994 I gained my PGCE before working full time as a primary school teacher in England and then part-time as a supply teacher in both primary and secondary schools. In 2007 I started studying for my Open University degree in Modern Languages, which was conferred with First-Class Honours in 2013. I now work part-time as a voluntary support assistant in schools, helping students to prepare for their GCSE exams in Spanish and French. I teach these languages privately, to small groups and to individuals. I also teach English to speakers of other languages and English for academic writing.
Effective teaching needs to meet the aspirations and abilities of the learner. This involves careful assessment of his or her needs and thorough planning of lessons, allowing for structured progression. I have a methodical approach to teaching, believing that students need to be given constant opportunities to apply what they have learned. My aim is to guide and motivate, tailoring lessons to match individual needs and incorporating challenging and enjoyable activities which focus on the development of key skills.
