This is how 2 referees rated Andrew:
Nice to meet you. My name is Andy . I am British. I lived in Tokyo, Japan for 28 years, but recently I moved back permanently to the UK. I live with my Japanese wife and our young daughter in Devon, UK. I love nature, and I go hiking often. I studied photography and martial arts in Tokyo for many years.
My other main interest is travel. I've visited over 50 countries in the world. I welcome students of any nationality.
I have taught English as a foreign language in Japan for 28 years to over 24,000 adult students. They were mainly Japanese adults, but also students from South Korea, China, and the Philippines. I taught at language schools, mainly with grammar and role plays; at universities, teaching the 4 main skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing, including internet research and citation technique, and multi-media presentations); and at Simul Academy in Tokyo for over 10 years. This is one of Japan's best schools, famous for the teaching of advanced and very advanced students in preparation for careers as interpreters, or professionals needing English for international conferences e.g. surgeons, academics, and property developers. I taught at Simul Academy mainly with newspaper articles, and CNN/BBC videos.
I teach only online, and I teach from intermedia**Contact Detail Removed**vel to advanced. Sorry, but I don't teach beginner level. I teach only adults. Sorry, but I don't teach children.
I am very flexible : students tell me what they want to study, how much lesson time on discussion, vocabulary etc… textbook or no textbook, news articles etc… then I will design the lesson. If the student wants to change it (for example : easier or more difficult vocabulary, more/less speaking time, how much time on feedback etc.), I can easily change the format of the lesson.
If you don't know what you want for a lesson style, or you are new to online or one-to-one lessons, don't worry : I will give you some ideas, or I can create the lesson myself.help you.
I like to give simple instructions. I speak clearly, and I am easy to understand, I hope !
Finally, don't worry about making mistakes. A mistake is not "bad" or "wrong" -- it's just something to improve next time.
