Personal Description:
I am passionate about languages and am a non-stop language learner myself. I speak nine languages and am willing to share all the linguistic know-how that I have accumulated. I have a BA in English and French, MA in linguistic theory, and Cambridge DELTA certificate in language teaching. I am an enthusiastic language coach providing not only language tutoring but taking you on an exciting culture tour that results in deeper understanding and "feeling" of the target language depending on your linguistic needs. Having spent half of my life in Russia, and the other half in Turkey I have incorporated both cultures and languages. I have extensive experience working for Russian and Turkish leading media groups, TV channels and newspapers, as well as interpreting for top-level events and organisations, translating and editing books, film and TV-series scripts, etc. I constantly develop professionally, currently writing a thesis on teaching language for exams for the Cambridge DELTA programme and delivering training sessions for other teachers.
Teaching Experience:
I started as a language tutor at university, later taking up lecturing first-year students in Introduction to Linguistics and Culture of Communication. Having moved to the media and translation sector I continued language tutoring on the one-to-one basis as well as group language coaching at large corporations, banks etc. at the top and middle management levels. I have trained my clients internationally, from Chile to the Netherlands, not only in language itself but in delivering presentations and speeches, conducting negotiations, writing effective texts etc. Additionally, I have experience working with teenager groups, as well as language for specific purposes including international exams for general and academic purposes.
Teaching Approach:
Student-centred language coaching is a highly valued approach that combines coaching techniques with the latest developments in language teaching methodology. Together with many communication and memory-boosting techniques I provide you with your own language map that helps you stay in control of the process and track your progress.
