¡Hola! I’m Anabel

I’m a native Spanish speaker with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and a friendly, fun, and experienced Spanish and Catalan teacher. I’ve had a lifelong passion for languages and a deep fascination with other cultures.

I’m enthusiastic about helping my students develop the skills and confidence to speak Spanish or Catalan fluently. I cover all aspects of language learning and tailor each lesson to your individual needs—so you make excellent progress and reach your goals.

I hold a BA (Hons) in Spanish Language and Literature, a Master’s Degree in Teaching Spanish and Catalan as Foreign Languages, and a PGCE with QTS. This academic and professional background has given me a solid foundation in both languages and a strong command of effective teaching methods.

My goal is to help you build your confidence, accuracy, and fluency from the very first lesson!

Teaching Experience:

I’ve been teaching Spanish and Catalan for over 10 years in the UK. Currently, I mainly work as a private tutor, but I also teach at a local adult learning centre. Previously, I’ve gained valuable experience teaching Spanish at university level, as well as in primary and secondary schools across the UK.

I can help you prepare for a wide range of goals, including:

- Levels A1 to C1 (following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR)

- School years 1 to 5

- Conversation practice

- GCSE, A-Level, and KS3/KS4 Spanish

- DELE exams – I’m an official examiner

- Spanish for travellers or professionals

Whatever your goal, I’ll help you gain the skills and confidence to succeed.

Teaching Approach:

Many of my students are able to hold basic conversations after just four months. Even starting from zero, they quickly learn to understand others and make themselves understood—which is the main goal for most learners.

One of the greatest advantages of private tuition is how much faster you learn compared to a traditional course. The focus is entirely on you—your needs, your pace, and your personal goals.

I offer flexible scheduling with weekly or fortnightly lessons. You can choose one-to-one sessions, or learn as a couple or in a small group—all at no extra cost per hour.

I needed a targeted approach and that's exactly what I've received. Anabel has been assessing my speaking, writing, comprehension, reading and listening in Spanish in great detail, providing comprehensive, helpful advice on how to improve. She has given me writing assignments, reading texts, comprehension tasks and more to complete in my own time, she always responds to my completed exercises in good time and with comprehensive, helpful feedback. Anabel is always very easy to get on with, her lessons are engaging and, thanks to her help, I feel I've already learnt a lot in a short space of time. I feel I'm on track preparing for my B1 exam and look forward to more lessons with Anabel. 10/10 tutor.
