Personal Description:

I’m someone who genuinely enjoys helping others understand things in a way that actually makes sense to them. I’m patient and easy to talk to and I always try to explain things clearly without making anyone feel judged. As a student myself I know how hard it can be when something just doesn’t click and how good it feels when someone finally explains it in the right way. I want to be that person for someone else. I take my time I listen and I care about helping others feel more confident in what they’re learning. Being able to help someone improve even just a little is something I find really fulfilling.

Tutoring Experience:

I’ve had experience helping classmates and younger students with subjects like Mathematical Literacy, Afrikaans and first year Political Science, both formally and informally. A lot of the time I’d explain things in a simpler way that made it easier for others to understand and I’d always make sure they felt comfortable asking questions. I’ve worked in group settings and one on one and I’ve learned how to be patient and adapt depending on the person’s learning style. Whether it was helping someone prepare for a test or just going over a tough concept I’ve enjoyed being someone others could rely on. Teaching has made me more confident and has shown me that I really enjoy helping people feel more capable in their studies.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is all about patience and understanding. I take time to figure out how someone learns best and then I work around that. I don’t believe in rushing through work just to get it done. I like to break things down step by step and create a space where the person feels safe to ask questions and make mistakes. I also try to relate the content to real life or personal experiences to make it stick better. My goal is to help someone build confidence in their own abilities and not just rely on memorising. I want them to actually understand the work and feel proud of their progress.
