Personal Description:

I have thirty plus years of experience in teaching adult students in university and polytechnic, both in New Zealand and Australia. With a law degree and higher qualifications in other aspects of business, as well as research, supervision and publication experience, I have expertise in many aspects of commercial law. If you are not sure what you want or need in the way of help and whether I can provide that help, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had an academic career that has been spent in three different universities. The first twenty five years involved designing and delivering commercial law courses at Waikato University at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Between 2002 and 2007 I taught courses and supervised student projects at AUT University and followed this by thirteen years teaching, guiding and supporting students at Federation University, Australia. During my time at Federation, I completed a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education during which I explored and developed my interests in online and virtual education opportunities. My subject experience and expertise are in a broad range of subject areas including introductory, contract, torts, company (including governance), business, consumer and employment. Although I do not have a current criminal record check (as I am retired), I am conscious of your safety and comfort so
have requested one. It should be provided in a few days.

Tutoring Approach:

I think it is important for you, the student, to take responsibility. I cannot do the learning for you but I can help you with the tools and support you need to do well in your studies. This could involve exploring the subject matter, problem solving, researching or helping you write assignments. My passion for learning and the subject matter helps me tell stories that in turn help you understand, appreciate and enjoy the topic. I am happy to meet you face to face in a place and at a time that works for you, or talk online. I am used to working to tight timetables so if you are seeking time-critical assignment or exam time assistance or advice, I can help. Have a look at the resources I have provided so far. These are just examples and I can (of course) supply custom-made ones for you should you need them.
