Personal Description:
Hello! I'm Neth, a science tutor based in West Auckland with a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Waikato.
My passion is making science engaging and easy to grasp. I have plenty of experience teaching at the university level (as a teaching assistant at the University of Waikato and Massey University, New Zealand) and as a private tutor for high school and junior school students.
I am committed to creating a safe and engaging learning experience that meets the individual needs of every student. We can meet in person at your home, a local library, or online. My goal is to help you build confidence, approach exams with ease, and, most importantly, discover a passion for learning chemistry, biology, and maths.
Tutoring Experience:
Teaching assistant - University of Waiakto, New Zealand (2024-2025)
Teaching assistant - Massey University, New Zealand (2019*2020)
Private science tutoring - 2011-2018
Tutoring Approach:
My approach is to make science real for my students. I teach concepts using real-life scenarios so that they aren't just memorizing, but understanding the concepts. This helps them see when and where to apply what they've learned in class, and it ensures they never forget the concepts.
Once the theory is clear, we move on to practice. I'll use questions from past papers and textbooks, encouraging students to try them out first. We'll then discuss how they reached their conclusion. This method builds confidence and helps them face exams well-prepared and without stress.
