Personal Description:

Kia ora, my name is KUN. I am a Vic graduate, a world traveller, a passionate tramper who has done 7 NZ Great Walks, and a skilled Mandarin tutor with more than 8 years of experience.
I tutored American university students to achieve Superior levels in the HSK & OPI (ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview) exams. My students are from various age groups and professional backgrounds here in NZ, including the US Embassy in NZ, the Weta workshop and the NZ Productivity Council.

Volunteering Mandarin tutor for students from the U.S… Barbados, Cambodia and Portugal, helped American friends practised the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview(OPI) for Mandarin.

Tutoring Approach:

More than language: China is truly a vast and fascinating country, I have travelled to most of the provinces in China (70% of the country), and many China Towns in other countries, so I can help you have a deep understanding of the various Chinese cultures, rather than just the language alone. Having lived and now studying in New Zealand, I can act as a bridge between Western and Chinese culture and understanding.

Accent tricks: Master in Beijing Mandarin accent (dominated in Mainland China) and Taiwanese Mandarin accent (dominated in Taiwan and many overseas Chinese communities), which helps you make more connection when you speak to Chinese from different backgrounds.

Writing in a Chinese way: Level 8 Traditional Chinese calligraphy certified by Renmin University, help you appreciate Chinese writing art (also helps you learn Japanese calligraphy).
