I am currently a second-year student at the University of Toronto majoring in computer science, with a finished GPA of 3.90/4.00 in my freshman year. I have a great interest in mathematics, physics, and economics throughout my teenage years. I graduated from high-school with a full IB Bilingual Diploma (with English and Chinese), and have taken mathematics, physics, and economics IB courses, which are equivalent to AP (common in the US) and A-Level (common in the UK) counterpart courses.
I was the co-founder of math-club at my high school. We offered one-on-one tutoring or group teaching. It turned out to be a well-run and influential club in the school, in which I helped students around the school to gain confidence in math and do well on the tests! Aside from creating and participating in the math-club in school, I have joined a volunteer association in China teaching English to children who lived in rural areas. Until now, it has been two years and has greatly enhanced my own awareness of teaching sufficiently and dedicatedly.
Since I have ample experience in tutoring, I believe caring and patience are among the two most crucial characteristics a tutor should have. Caring is determined by the tutor's ability to understand and encourage the student, while patience describes the tendency to focus on the long-term goal. Also, I am very enthusiastic and patient when I am teaching. I firmly believe that passion to learn is a skill that can be trained and improved in every single individual.
