Personal Description:

Hi! I am a 4th year Bachelor of Science student at University of Alberta, specializing in Cell Biology. I have received my high school diploma from Old Scona Academic, with partial IB. Throughout seconday and post-secondary, I have consistently maintained averages above 90 and been an A-grade student. The subjects I offer to teach are those that I thoroughly enjoy, and my aim is always to help the student develop similar appreciation and interest for the topic.

Tutoring Experience:

I have alot of teaching experience with classes, which includes being an instructor at Air Cadets for over 2 years, and teaching a children and youth assembly at a sociospiritual organization for over 3 years. I am also a study group mentor at the University for 2 courses, and I have informally tutored many of my friends for coursework.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very practical and simplified approach to concepts, and I attempt to consider them from the other individual's perspective. This allows me to tutor in a way that is best suited for the student to learn and apply the concepts. I prefer logical reasoning and real-life applications when teaching, so the student can not only retain the knowledge longer but also be able to manipulate it as needed for exams. I have also taken cognitive psychology, and am familiar with the best techniques for memorization and recall. I also believe in building a relationship with the student where we both are comfortable and willing to learn from each other. As a mentor I try to adapt to the student's style of learning and plan how to fulfil the student's educational needs accordingly.
