Personal Description:

Tutoring others has allowed me to develop the skills necessary to approach concepts from a variety of different perspectives. I can adjust my teaching style to suit the individual, whether they prefer in-depth discussions about literary analysis or visual cues for phonics. I can serve as an excellent conversational partner for ESL/ELL students as well.

Tutoring Experience:

I spent a year teaching English in Taiwan. I have a year's experience as an ESL tutor. I worked with students in English, as well as in test prep for the TOEFL and SAT. I earned my bachelor's degree in English specializing in Creative Writing.

Tutoring Approach:

Preparation is key in English tutoring. I work with my students to assess their grasp of the material and their goals. Using short assessment-like activities, I allow my students the opportunity to work through the problems on their own to build independence. I can design lessons around creative writing, comparative literature, or any other topic they are interested in.
