Personal Description:

I'm a friendly understanding tutor who has a M.Eng in Mechanical Engineering and a M.A in Musical Theatre from Loughborough University and Mountview Academy respectively, both in the UK.
I can teach maths, physics and chemistry to high school level and maths to university level.
I can also teach piano upto grade 4 and singing upto grade 6 and theory of music unto grade 5 (All ABRSM level).
I would also consider tutoring Engineering modules depending on content and quantity. I do not teach Discrete Maths and related topics.

Under my sports - I played Tennis up to a high standard in University in the UK and to a national standard in Sri Lanka. I am capable of teaching beginners to get to a decent standard and helping more intermediate/advanced players refine their techniques and playing strategies.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught Grade 11 Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, and Grade 13 Physics and Chemistry in Sri Lanka as a replacement teacher for three teachers that either retired early or had to leave for a few months.
I've also tutored a student with special needs in Grade 11 Physics while in Canada.
In addition I've tutored grade 7-10 students in Maths and Physics as well as adult maths learners.

On top of this, I've tutored my friends in their high school classes, university classes and music classes.

I've also had experience running acting workshops and teaching singing and acting 1:1 with great success.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy teaching immensely. My approach to teaching is to often take the technical detail out as early as possible. I prefer to teach with examples of real world situations and then applying the theory to it, and slotting in the technical aspects of learning right at the end. I enjoy teaching people of all skill levels/learning needs.

My best experience tutoring came from teaching a person who was doing his second PHD (in organic chemistry), but lacked the maths ability to understand the documents he was reading. I was able to not only bring his maths up to standard, but learned a lot of new mathematical techniques previously unknown to me on the go.
