Personal Description:

Bilingual, self-employed professional with a passion for educating and connecting with young people so they can achieve their academic and career goals.

Attended Toronto French School, skipped 8th grade, completed enhanced/extended French programs in secondary school, and attended Neuchâtel Junior College (Switzerland) for extended grade 12 to further enhance my French skills. University of Toronto graduate with Honours Bachelor of Science, double majoring in French Linguistics and Psychology.

Teaching has always been a passion of mine - I volunteered in teaching environments from age 10! I'm very adaptable, compassionate, detail-oriented, enthusiastic, organized, patient - and approach subject material in multiple ways to ensure students fully grasp the concepts.

Several references available, from families who have been loyal clients (some, more like family) for up to 10 years. I have successfully helped students thrive in elementary and secondary (both Alberta and Ontario curriculums - including International Baccalaureate and Francophone programs), then transition into university programs for Engineering, Business, Film, Speech Language Pathology, and Justice and Legal Studies where I continue to provide guidance as needed.

I volunteered in Peel classrooms from 2001-2016 to gain first-hand knowledge pertinent to teaching approaches. Since 2015, I have been tutoring full-time with students aged 3.5-24 years; with 16 current students grades 4 through third year university, I am very familiar with curriculum standards and what it takes to success in Canada’s education system. Thanks to both my psychology degree and experience, I achieve results with students struggling academically, whether with learning disabilities - such as ADHD and autism - or complex emotional needs serving as barriers to academic success, such as social anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress.

Tutoring Experience:

Volunteering experience:
- Teaching assistance grades 1-6 in all subjects

- Taught teacher's math lessons, provided additional support during lunch recess by running a private small group math session 2x/week.
- Maintained a calm, cohesive classroom environment.
- Supervised during recess duty.

Tutoring Approach:

- A team mentality that motivates students to respect my input and be their best selves.
- Treating the child as a whole being, whose mental and emotional needs are equally as important as their academic ones. Unmet, they serve as a barrier to education.
- Fostering a love of learning and a positive attitude towards school, as well as healthy study habits in the home environment.
- Meeting curriculum guidelines by incorporating these requirements into customized lessons.
- Multi-dimensional approach to enhance student performance and understanding.
- Maintaining an organized, flexible schedule in order to accommodate students and make myself available to parents by email/phone in between tutoring sessions.
