Personal Description:

I am a grade 11 International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme student at Bayview Secondary School who is passionate about teaching and learning new things. In the classroom, I make efforts to understand terms and concepts and learn how to apply them to different questions rather than memorizing them. I am also actively engaged in my community, and participate in many extracurricular activities, including my school's Eco-Team and other non-profit youth organizations. Throughout my academic career, I have excelled in math, winning the mathematics award at my grade 8 graduation and maintaining a high-90 average in my high school math courses, including Functions, Advanced Functions, and Calculus and Vectors.

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience tutoring both my peers and my younger brother. In the classroom, I often help explain concepts to my peers. At home, I tutor my younger brother on a daily basis.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning in the classroom can often be very tiresome and boring. Through my academic career, I have had experience with teachers that teach the bare minimum and do not care about the students' learning experience. I want to make sure that students are engaged and motivated to learn, and are able to extend their learning to beyond the classroom. Not only do I want to teach children how the things that they learn in class in an interactive way, but I want to show them how they can be applied to the real world. In addition, many of the concepts that students learn at a young age are fundamental to their understanding of math. In higher grades, the concepts that are taught are based on these earlier concepts. I think that it is important for students to completely understand these basic concepts so it will be easier to grasp other concepts in the future.
