Personal Description:

My name is Sonia and I am a BC Certified teacher. I live in Burnaby, BC, Canada. I have a degree in English Literature and a minor in Theatre. I also a Bachelor of Education degree. I grew up in Eastern Canada and was in the French Immersion program. I speak fluent French, and have taught it for many years in a variety of settings. In my spare time, I like to garden, cook, travel, write, read, listen to music, and spend time with my 3 beautiful cats.

Tutoring Experience:

I have over 15 years of tutoring experience in a variety of settings. I have taught ELL, English, Social Studies, Math and French to students from K-12.
I am currently a teacher in the Delta School District, where I have taught French Immersion, Learning Support, Physical Education, Core French, and am currently a Teacher-Librarian.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy connecting with people-that's the thing that I love the most about teaching. It's the most important part of the job. I try to give feedback in a very constructive way and always emphasize the strengths first. I am patient, kind and empathetic to the learner. I bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to each tutoring session, and my students always feel that I've given them my best.
