Personal Description:

My name is Sam and I'm from Canada. I have a good understanding of Canadian culture because I grew up in Vancouver and I am a certified global Cross Cultural Trainer (TMC - Berlitz, based in Princeton, New Jersey).

When I'm not working, I enjoy watching movies (particularly science fiction), reading up on news and current affairs as well as going outdoors to parks and beaches. I also value the little pleasures in life. For example, one of my favourite things to do is to relax by having red wine together with cottage cheese and sometimes a few biscuits or chocolate.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught students from around 30 countries. I have been teaching English since 2005 in the areas of business, conversation, test preparation, and Canadian pre-university English. At FirstTutors, I teach conversational English.

Tutoring Approach:

With conversational English, I encourage students to discuss topics of interest they choose from the news. Alternatively, I can select specially designed educational news articles to practice with. I give corrections as we practice so students can quickly make improvements.
