Personal Description:
Hello, I'm a Grade 12 student in Ontario with a 98% final grade in ENG4U (Grade 12 University English). I am passionate about helping students feel more confident in their writing, especially when it comes to turning their ideas into clear, strong work. I'm also passionate about subjects like politics, philosophy, history, and geography, where I’ve consistently received grades between 96–98%. My strong foundation in these areas helps me support students not just in writing, but also in developing critical thinking and argumentation skills.
My lessons are best for students who need support with writing essays, improving grammar, analyzing texts, writing thesis statements (which students struggle with the most), or just understanding their assignments better.
I know how overwhelming English can feel, so I focus on breaking everything down step-by-step. I always adjust my teaching to fit the student’s learning style. I’m extremely supportive and love helping students polish their own raw ideas into something strong and effective.
Tutoring Experience:
I have experience as a peer tutor at school, where I supported students with English writing, grammar, and assignment planning. I’ve helped classmates and younger students plan essays, revise paragraphs, and improve their thesis clarity and flow.
Thanks to my strong performance in English and Humanities courses, I’ve become someone peers often turn to for help, especially when it comes to organizing ideas and strengthening their writing.
I also enjoy organizing study notes and writing explanations, and I’ve often shared guides with others during exam season.
These experiences have helped me become a better communicator, and I love helping students feel more confident when they’re unsure where to start.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to keep lessons focused but flexible, always based on the student’s needs, whether they have a specific assignment or just want to improve their writing skills in general.
A typical lesson with me might look like:
- Quick check-in on what you're working on or struggling with
- Breaking down an assignment or topic together and setting 1–2 small, clear goals
- Working on a paragraph, outline, or idea (brainstorming, editing, writing practice, etc.)
- Wrapping up with a review of what you’ve improved and what to try next
Whether it's preparing for an essay or just wanting to build stronger writing habits, I’m here to help!
