Personal Description:

I am a University professor who loves to teach and help students understand the complexity of math to allow them to use it in their everyday life. I believe that understanding the numbers that surround us is such an important skill to become a well-rounded citizen.
I am a military brat, who lived most of my childhood abroad. This has allowed me to develop strong interpersonal skills, as well as a profound respect for the uniqueness of each individual.
I have two kids who are in elementary school, they have allowed me to learn patience, a skill I wrongly thought I had mastered.
My lovely wife is a high school teacher, I learn every day from her. She is my compas and has encouraged me to pursue my love of education.

Tutoring Experience:

I was a student mentor for 2 years during my undergraduate studies, and became a Teaching Assistant during my Masters.
Over the last 12 years, I have taught mainly biomechanics courses, statistics courses, and research methods courses at the undergraduate and gradua**Contact Detail Removed**vel at the University of Ottawa and Saint-Paul. I teach both in French and English, to students with a strong science background and students with strong arts background.
While I specialized in biomechanics and statistics, I love teaching students about the research process in social sciences. I can apply my knowledge of the scientific process to all research topics and serve as a mentor to guide all students towards a successful thesis proposal and defense.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that everyone has the ability to understand and use math. I think that teaching a large groups often prevents teachers from adapting their teaching to fit students who may need additional time to understand the material. Unfortunately, many of these students are lead to believe that they are simply not “good” at math, which is a shame. I’m not saying that math is fun, but it definitely doesn’t have to be such a painful experience.
I like to incorporate real-life examples in my teaching in order to make the material more relatable and applicable.
