Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Nasrin! I'm a passionate Ontario Certified Educator with over 8 years of experience supporting students in building strong academic foundations, especially in mathematics. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics with a teaching specialization from the University of Waterloo and I am a graduate of the Master of Teaching at University of Toronto. My teaching style is student-centered, encouraging confidence, critical thinking, and a genuine love for learning.
In addition to my math expertise, I’m multilingual (English, Farsi, French, and Spanish) and committed to creating a welcoming, culturally responsive environment for all learners. I believe that every student learns differently, and I take pride in personalizing lessons to fit each student's unique needs, learning styles, and goals.
Whether you’re looking for support in math, STEM, study skills, or academic enrichment, I’m here to help students not only improve their grades but also develop skills they’ll carry for life. I look forward to working together and helping you reach your full potential!
Tutoring Experience:
I have over 8 years of experience working with students across a wide range of ages, abilities, and learning styles. As a teacher with the York Region District School Board and a private tutor, I’ve supported students both in classroom settings and one-on-one environments. I specialize in mathematics and STEM subjects but also support students in developing a growth mindset, improving their study skills, and building good study habits. I also support my students in applying to universities and jobs, course selections for high school and university, and preparation for math contests. Throughout my career, I’ve helped students improve their confidence, close learning gaps, and achieve meaningful academic growth.
Tutoring Approach:
My tutoring approach is student-centered, flexible, and personalized. I take time to understand each student's learning style, strengths, and areas for growth in order to best support their learning. I encourage my students to stay curious, ask questions, and take risks in mathematics. My goal is not just to improve grades, but to help students develop strong problem-solving skills, resilience, and a lifelong love for learning.
