ONLINE LESSONS DUE TO COVID 19
I am a recent McGill University grad from a joint degree studying honours math & physics and jazz piano performance. I am a motivated, enthusiastic person with a passion for teaching and learning. I am a working musician in addition to being a student.
I have worked as a private tutor in math and physics and I have worked as a private music teacher with kids and adults of all ages since 2014. I have been working as a piano instructor to students of all ages at Lower Canada College in Montreal since September and previously worked at St. Georges College in Montreal as a tutor.
I have tutored students from grade 3 up until 2nd year University. The majority of my students have been between the grade 9 and university levels.
My philosophy as a tutor is to focus on tangible, concrete first principles in order to foster a deep understanding of concepts. I stress the importance of understanding rather than memorizing in order to lead my students towards critical and creative thought over superficial reproduction. My diverse background in both science and art has helped me develop objective, technical ways of thinking and combine them with creative and subjective ones. Thanks to this experience, I pride myself on my ability to relate to and connect with students on a personal level, as this makes for a more enriching learning experience. I believe I will be able to do meaningful and gratifying work for you or your children and that my unique skillset and experience will offer substantial benefits. I can teach over facetime, zoom or skype. Contact me if you have any questions :)
