Personal Description:

I have experience as an independent tutor in several different subjects, including biology, test prep, math, and even history. I have also been a TA for courses in biostatistics and college composition, so I know how to connect with students.

Tutoring Experience:

I was a Study Group Leader as an undergrad for three years, a role that entailed teaching small-group study sessions for challenging courses such as Biology I and II. I prepared session plans and taught students how to deploy them, teaching them "how to learn" in the process. I ultimately graduated with a BS in Biological Sciences in 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

I don't mind helping students as a biology tutor, but I would rather empower them to find the answers to their questions using whatever resources are available to them, like textbooks, Google, notes, and so on. This promotes understanding rather than memorization and helps students hang on to the material longer.
