Personal Description:

Hello, I'm Megan. I am a writer and storyteller. I have a main focus in screenwriting and prose fiction but have training in multiple writing fields. I have 3 degrees within the writing sphere that cover all the major fiction styles of writing, as well as some of the more technically and business writing techinques.

I did theatre and musical performance for 10+ years and it really built my ability to help build up others and create a warm and welcome environment.

I'm a very open and cheerful person who wants to bring out the best in students and help them come out of each session feeling like they're making progress.

Tutoring Experience:

I worked with children at an entertainment centre as both a Party Host and Daycare Associate for years. I was able to gain a strong knowledge of how children learn and what are the best ways to teach children from the age of 4+.

I also was a tutor for writing in college and would often help edit and critique the works of my peers.

Tutoring Approach:

Each student needs something different. While the outcome needs to be the same, the process to get there will be unique to each student depending on how they learn.

I take the curriculum and break down where the student is in their learning of the material. Once I have an understanding of where they are and how they learn, I can then adjust how to teach the material to them. If someone has trouble with the historical facts of a subject but are good at essay writing portions, then my focus would be on finding ways to boost their intake and retention. For the opposite, I'd focus on essay writing structures and how to piece together an argument.

It's not about just giving over the information quickly, it's making sure that there's an understanding of the information and why it's important.
