Personal Description:

Have been in education in one form or another pretty much all of my adult life. Quaified Teacher Status since 2005, experience working as education assistant, teacher and tutor since then for both public and private organisations. I have a secondary background in physical education as a gymnastics and trampoline instructor. Former head coach of a gymnastium of seven years standing, recent part-time work as a back-yard personal trainer.

Tutoring Experience:

Educated in the UK, read Law at univeristy, after which acquiring UK QTS through a professional route into teaching- the Graduate Teacher Training Program, administered through The University of London in partnership with local education authority schools.
I moved to Canada in 2005, living here for just over a decade, working primarily in Alberta as a gymnastics and trampoline instructor. Mved back to the UK in 2016 to further my educational experience and spend some time with family. I worked for teaching agencies for two years doing supply work before being offered a full-time position as Head of PE at a private school January 2019. I work for them up til the end of this academic year before deciding to move back to Canada, specifically Vancouver Island.

Tutoring Approach:

Holistic, positive, encouragement. In both academics and PE, if you want success it is crucial to lay a strong foundation. Only from the ground up does life flourish. I approach mathematics as a language… because that is exactly what is it, specific rules for sentence structure with it's own symbols and applications, I enjoy teaching maths becuase we learn more about our environment, conceptually at a young age, before we get the practical life experience. I hope, through exciting, energising, unique and tailor-made lessons that I can spark a love of learning and empower students to ultimately take control of their own education.
