Personal Description:

Hello, my name is Matthew . My wife and I live in Canada but we have done some travelling. We lived in the country of Belize for just over a year. I love teaching and I have been teaching for about 10 years now, mostly as a volunteer, but more recently as a one on one tutor. My passion is sailing and riding motorcycles. Now we live in Fredericton, New Brunswick, which has great places to go hiking and do bird watching.

Tutoring Experience:

As I mentioned, I have about 10 years of teaching experience. Much of it has been in a voluntary capacity. For the last 4 years however, I have been teaching professionally online as an ESL Teacher. In that 4 years, I have taught over 1500 students one-on-one.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I find it is extremely important to build a relationship with my student. This helps the student to learn quickly. Showing personal interest is a great way to do that. I have also found that it is very important to focus on my students conversational abilities. Often times, my students have been taught the theoretical aspects of English, but to actually carry on a conversation is a different matter. So, I will do my best to help you become a more fluent speaker and a better conversationalist.
