This is how 29 referees rated Matthew:
I call the way I tutor students "gradual release." This means that I help my students develop their goals and then help them practice the skills necessary to reach their goals until they are able to do the work on their own. I make a good English tutor because I have experience and I understand what schools expect of their students.
I earned my bachelor's degree in History from Pomona College and went on to earn my master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Kentucky. I have been teaching English Language Arts for more than 10 years with a focus on Reading Comprehension and Writing. I love to tutor students in Reading, Writing, and Literature.
When I begin to tutor someone, I first show them the best way to do it, then we do it together, and finally, I challenge them to do it on their own. I make our sessions fun, upbeat, and energetic. I like to get to know my students and their academic goals so we can work towards them together.
