This is how 9 referees rated Mary:
As a biology tutor, I am good at breaking down complex scientific concepts into general terms that my students can digest. I am energized by teaching and really enjoy helping people grasp a certain concept. I truly love to teach and I look forward to working with both high school and college students with their biology coursework.
I recently earned my Bachelor of Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. While at school, I taught and tutored students for a year and a half as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant. In this position I worked with students in 1-on-1 settings as well as in a group capacity.
When I tutor a student, I try to put myself in their shoes and get acquainted with their way of thinking. As part of this approach, I make sure to ask questions and allow for periods of silence so they can practice solving problems independently.
