Personal Description:

I am a long-time tutor of both Math and English and enjoy helping others work on their skills & learn something new. Need to catch up or keep ahead? I look forward to meeting you and helping you for anywhere from one session to a whole term!

Tutoring Experience:

I have been helping English as a Second Language students for over 2 years and Math students for most of my life. My language studies in both French and Spanish have helped me better understand language acquisition & learning. I am a Mathematics graduate from the University of Waterloo and have tutored university level statistics, calculus & algebra all the way down to grade 9 math.

Tutoring Approach:

I ask for your reasons for finding extra help, look over your study material, and help you build up your skills to get you where you want to go. I encourage bringing problems & questions you have on material to a session. If there's a particular concept you need practice with I would go through and explain different points of view around it to round out your understanding.

His teaching method is very effective as it focuses on simplifying concepts through visuals, ensuring a thorough understanding of fundamentals and he provides great resources to practice with. I highly recommend for anyone learning Math, especially those who find themselves struggling because they have not done Math in a long time as Mark is very patient and will make sure you understand the basics before diving into more complex concepts.

From Logan (5/5): (Secondary Math) After having Mark as a tutor for both my kids for almost a month and a half, I can tell that he's is a remarkable person. He's a real pedagogue. He knows how to evaluate the needs of his students, where they stand and how to keep them interested to the subject and most important thing get their full attention during classes.
My kids being students at a French language high-school in Toronto, though they're completely bilingual, had the chance to find in him, I can attest that he has a excellent knowledge of the French Language, the perfect support for them. It's very interesting to see all of them including Mark switching from a language to the other.
And because of the actual situation (Covid-19 pandemic) Mark has been able to establish a platform to teach them online, and that works perfectly.
