Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Makayla and I grew up in sunny Southern California. I am currently studying Linguistics and am in the process of getting my TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages) certification with the goal of teaching English in other countries. Some of my passions and interests include, international literacy development and language documentation. I also have a huge passion for words and languages and have studied many languages including Spanish, Latin, Arabic, and German over the course of my life.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had much experience in tutoring throughout the course of my life. I have tutored in mathematics, English, science and ESL throughout high school and college. I am currently involved in teaching and tutoring ESL for refugees and international students in my area. I absolutely love working with students from different backgrounds and cultures, and I find that their different experiences help me become more of a useful and understanding tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

I mostly love one-on-one tutoring because I am able to cater to each individual's unique learning style. I desire to equip each student with the tools and resources needed to understand the material. My goal is to give each student the confidence and resources they need in an effective and personal way. One of my main priorities is efficiency; wanting to make sure my students get the most out of their tutoring sessions.
