Information About Mahtab

Kingston tutor

Personal Description:

My name is Mahtab, I am 22 years old, and I am a currently in my final year studying Kindergarten and Elementary education at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

For two years, I had worked for McGill Student Housing and Hospitality Services as a Floor Fellow in the McConnell Hall Residence. My job entailed organizing events for, and live with, 36 first-year students to ensure community building and general well-being, resolve conflicts and mediate conversations on an individual and group level, and facilitate the transition to univeristy through active listening, anti-oppressive training, and 24/7 crisis availability.

My hobbies include playing sports such as field hockey (which I played for McGill Varsity during my first year at the university), creating art pieces, reading, and photography.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had the pleasure of doing my first field experience at Bancrof**Contact Detail Removed**mentary, and both my second and third field experience at École F.A.C.E and my fourth at École Royal Vale. I worked closely with all elementary grade levels during my past experiences as a student teacher. I love working with kids and have a lot of experiences in doing so. From working in summer camp jobs, to volunteering in the paediatrics unit at Kingston's General Hospital (KGH), to teaching swimming lessons, to animating birthday parties through McGill Athletics and Recreation- I have a great deal of passion for teaching children.

Tutoring Approach:

My goal as future educator is to create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes diversity, openness, and equity. This space will be safe for students to explore, play, create, and learn. My approach to tutoring would be similar, meaning I want to create a space where my students feel safe to explore and enjoy learning. I like to make my lessons more student orientated meaning I like to see what teaching strategies work best in regards to the individual.
