Personal Description:

I graduated in June 2019 from the University of Toronto with a double major in Fundamental Genetics and Environment and Health along with a minor in Environmental Biology. My undergraduate degree was heavily math and science based however I have experience tutoring all subjects and was also taught English, French, Geography and History at the International Baccalaureate (IB) level during high school. I am going back to School in September to obtain an M.Sc and am working in the meantime.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been tutoring for 8 years in math, science, English, French, geography and history. I have tutored from grades 1-12 usually in a one on one setting. I have had amazing feed back and results from my students. I am very dedicated to ensuring my students success and many of my students have commented that I explain concept very clearly to them and that they feel comfortable asking for clarification when needed.

Tutoring Approach:

My style of tutoring is very flexible and differs from student to student as I recognize that no student learns the same way. Sometimes I use visual explanations, I give real life examples and I make scenarios that the student can connect with to ensure they understand concepts. I am very patient with my students and over the years have learned to read between the lines and know when my student is still unclear even if they don't want to admit it because even with a one on one tutor I understand that it can be hard for students to admit they are struggling with something. I strive to develop a strong sense of trust with my students so that they feel comfortable asking me any questions when necessary.
I am happy to let the student lead the session if they have specific questions they would like me to go over with them. I am also equally happy to lead the session and completely review lessons if that is what is needed. I am able to work ahead on up coming lessons if the student wishes to do so and can assign additional worksheets when needed. When asked, I have even contacted the student's teacher directly to ensure we are all working on the same page to ensure the students success. I am reachable anytime by phone if the student has a quick question they need clarification on regardless if we have a session planed for that time.
