Personal Description:

I am a experienced native English speaking professional teacher who has taught successfully for over 30 years! Couple this with credentials earned at the renown University of Alberta, namely, two bachelor degrees, one in science and one in education, and you have the ingredients for superior learning. Professionally, I am very focused, patient but with high expectations and determined to enable my students to aspire to their true potential!

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught students from Kindergarten right through to adult seniors. All courses in Math except calculus have been taught at the secondary school level. This included opportunities where I tutored students outside of my teaching responsibilities. Adult education experience of 2 years where I taught all math and science courses is included in my experience. I also instructed students for over 20 years in a charter school who catered to students who had experienced trauma in their lives and helped them to succeed in their school work.

Tutoring Approach:

When tutoring I first demonstrate how to solve a problem. Secondly I work through some problems together with the student and give them guided support. Lastly, I give them a problem to solve on their own to determine whether they have learned the concept. Lastly, I discuss real world situations where the knowledge can be applied. I ask questions that will force the student to think and to learn the material needed.
