Personal Description:

Hello! I am an English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher in New Westminster. With online learning, I know that lots of students need extra support right now and so I can help support them online.
I started my secondary education degree at Grande Prairie Regional College and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alberta in December 2017. I look forward to helping students through this step in their education journey.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught Language Arts and Social Studies at a junior high. I have also taugh**Contact Detail Removed**mentary Social Studies, Drama and Math. During my student teaching, I taught 10-12 English. For the last 5 years I have been tutoring with Sylvan Learning. During this time I have tutored Math 1-9, reading, writing, study skills and homework support 1-12. I am grateful for the varied experiences I have had, it is interesting to see the transition from elementary students all the way through to high school.

Tutoring Approach:

For my secondary students, I know that they have lots of homework. I will support them with that homework, and supply them with any extra assignments as we determine fit from my own lesson plans. I am quite well read in secondary novels and Shakespeare. If I am not familiar with the text, I will read it!
For my elementary students, I usually start the hour with some Math at their level and finished with reading out loud. As elementary focuses on reading, writing and arithmetic these skills always help. For the rest of the hour, we can decide together what we think the student needs.
