Personal Description:

I am an English tutor. However, throughout grades K-12, I struggled with reading and other subjects because the same teaching method was used over and over. As I learned techniques to improve in reading comprehension, I succeeded in more subjects and eventually became a teacher. I now tutor in reading, writing, essay editing, and high school and college English.

Tutoring Experience:

I earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education and went on to earn my master's in educational leadership. I've worked as an elementary school teacher and have a desire to promote my love of learning.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe it's important to help students feel secure. For example, one technique that I use with those who struggle with reading comprehension is to help improve their background knowledge. I often use the K/W/L technique to build a student's confidence; this is find out what they know, what they want to know, and what they have learned during the lesson.
