Personal Description:

I am female, and in my 40's, and I have been teaching english and music for several years. I am very patient and encouraging, and I give useful positive and corrective feedback. I live in the west end of Toronto, but I am willing to travel to other areas of Toronto.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language, and I have taught adult ESL (English) classes, both volunteer and paid for 3 years. I have also tutored students at different levels, in ESL and literacy. I enjoy finding the best methods to fit each student's needs, interests and goals, and I am patient, focussed and encouraging with my students.

Tutoring Approach:

In my lessons, I present grammar and vocabulary in simple and interesting steps. We discuss what the student already knows, and practise examples in spoken and written form. We work on concepts with written exercises, and then practise it with fun and interesting scenarios, as well as relevant conversation around the student's interests and goals. I continue learning about the student, and tailor lessons to their learning style.
