Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Leah and I love learning new things and helping along others in learning new things with me. I'm interested in History, English, Art, Science, and how everything is connected to them. I love reading graphic novels, I'm very enthusiastic about cartoons, and I love talking about the social internet and how it impacts everything around us in both negative and positive ways.

Tutoring Experience:

I am currently enrolled as a Teacher Candidate at the University of Ottawa and am gaining experience teaching in high school classrooms. I am already very attuned to methods of instruction and engagement that are both in-person and online. In the past, I have worked as a trainer in retail environments, so I know how to be flexible and remain attuned to students' learning preferences.

Tutoring Approach:

I try my best to work through difficult subjects by breaking down and deconstructing the problem areas and rebuilding them in ways that make the most sense to a learner. I work hard to tie in personal interests to a subject matter that seems out of reach or may feel inaccessible to students. I like to get a sense of the work students are struggling with so we can work on filling the gaps, while also getting a sense of who the students are as people to bring the best out of them.
