Personal Description:

I am a native English speaker and I am Ivy League-educated—holding a B.A. from Columbia University with a double major in Experimental Psychology and Philosophy. I have a great deal of experience with study skills, essay writing, and writing for a variety of audiences, formats, and contexts. I am well-versed in the scientific method, statistics for behavioral sciences and many applied methodologies in the social sciences (economics, sociology, anthropology, psychology), as well as the history and theoretical backgrounds of many of these disciplines.

Tutoring Experience:

I have just under three years of private tutoring experience, working with children, adolescents and adults on a range of subjects including primarily ESL, English, Writing/Grammar, and Social Studies.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very enthusiastic about teaching and learning. I love to work one-on-one or in small groups to develop and practice skills and to build knowledge. My background in psychology provides me with an awareness of the different ways in which people learn best, and I am dedicated to tutoring in a style that adapts to my client's strengths and encourages their abilities. I am positive and encouraging and I will make the learning experience rewarding!
