Personal Description:

Hi!
Thanks for giving my profile a read.
To tell you a little about myself, I'm an enthusiastic, patient and knowledgeable educator. I thoroughly enjoy getting to know my students and building interactive, fun and clear activities to help students learn. I care deeply about my students and when a student agrees to study with me, their success becomes my success. I would be honored to help you learn!

Tutoring Experience:

Earning my teaching degree (BEd) in 2009, I have taught high school level math, science and computer skills to all ages ever since. These courses were delivered in online, hybrid and in-person formats.
In addition, I have coached many students through courses in statistics, biology, chemistry and more.
I started tutoring long before I got my teaching degree. I was a tutor throughout high school and university. My experience as a tutor was a contributing factor in my decision to become a teacher. I love watching the light bulb come on for my students.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I like to start by getting to know my students and the ways they are currently functioning. Then, I help my students learn to establish effective goals. As we crack open the course materials together, I build in skills that allow students to improve their study habits. I use my background in neuroscience to inform students about research-based teaching and learning methods and my teaching background to present material in new and fun ways. By the end of our time together, it is my hope that my students increase their enjoyment and effectiveness as a student and are better able to balance their student life with their other aspects of their lives. Using this approach, students have been able to increase their grades dramatically while spending less time agonizing over their course materials.
